A truism perhaps, but
nonetheless one worth repeating; a badly edited manuscript can be as
detrimental to a book’s chances of success as can poor cover design or an
unconvincing synopsis.
It is self-evident
that a poorly written ebook - however well edited - can’t be expected to exactly
fly off the cyber-shelves. However, the combination of great writing, professional
editing, a persuasive synopsis and an eye-catching cover, will ensure that the odds
on your book achieving success, dramatically shorten.
In keeping with our
keenly priced ebook formatting and publishing services, we also offer attractively
priced, professional editorial services. We estimate that our editorial prices
are at least 25% below those of our
competitors. But you don’t have to take our word for it - search online for
manuscript editorial services or proof-reading services, and see for yourself.
However, if you do find what seem like lower prices elsewhere, we would ask you to check that the company are offering levels of editing comparable to the options outlined below. We are confident that
after reviewing The Electronic Book Company’s low-priced, high-quality
editorial services, you won’t want to use anyone else.
Pricing
and Editing Options: Manuscripts are priced
per page (250 words). There are three levels for you to consider:
Option 1: Proof-reading with light editing.
- We
check the proof word-for-word against a marked-up draft and identify
errors for correction. We check for typographical errors, repetition of
small words, and correct styles.
- We
check for spelling errors, usage of UK/US spellings and maintain
consistency across the document.
- If
the manuscript is supplied with the reference section, we check whether
all the references are linked to the text.
- We
check for errors in word usage (for instance, the use of 'to' instead of too; there for their, etc.), hyphenation, and subject-verb agreement.
- We
also look for grammar problems (For example: using ‘which’ instead of that) and also recommend changes in word choice or inappropriate punctuation.
Price:
£1.56 (GBP) - €1.93 (EUR) per page
Option 2: Proof-reading with light/medium editing.
- At
all levels of editing, we correct errors, point out conflicting statements
to the author, and request advice when the means of resolving a problem is
unclear. Throughout all of this, we fix whatever is incorrect, confusing,
ambiguous, or inappropriate.
- Light/medium editing is similar to Option 1 but does a more
thorough check of grammar rules.
- In
addition to basic proof reading, we check for style consistency; for
example, style of the head levels, acronyms and expansions and consistency
in hyphenation usage.
- Take
for example the ambiguous phrase, “Replace the old component.” Depending
on context, this could mean “Return the old component to its original
place” or “Substitute a new component for the old one.” After a discussion
with the author, we would rewrite the phrase to clarify the meaning.
- The
above points are carried out in addition to the work undertaken in Option 1.
£2.10 (GBP) - €2.60 (EUR) per page
Option 3: Proof-reading with medium/heavy editing.
- In
medium/heavy editing, we check for style consistency and relationships between
text and graphics. Table-of-contents entries and organizational problems
are also corrected.
- We
rephrase the sentences for easy readability, without changing the author’s
intended meaning.
- The
above points are carried out in addition to the work undertaken in Options 1 and Option 2.
£2.64 (GBP) - €3.28 (EUR) per page
Creative Editorial Service: We also offer a competitively priced creative editorial service that can turn an average book into something special. Prices start at £1.56 (GBP) - €1.93 (EUR) per page.
